WONDERFUL!
This is a very different take on the Wizard of Oz story we grew up with. It revolves around the evolving relationship between Glinda the good witch and Elphaba the wicked witch and how they came to receive their titles. References harkening back to what we know from the original story hint at what is to come. This story takes the audience on a wild ride with an incredible blend of humor and pathos. The material is wonderful and requires wonderful talent to bring it to life. I cannot say enough about the talent of this cast. I have seen clips on youtube of the original Broadway production starring Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth; these roles made them stars and deservedly so. The leads in the national tour deserve to go on to similar stardom and in fact, the rest of the cast are just ideal and make this theatrical experience so enjoyable. I have seen this play twice, both times at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, VA and look forward to seeing it again at my next opportunity. It is more than good, it is WONDERFUL!
